Your climate science term of the day is “Positive feedback loop.” | From the Washington Post – “Scientists may have cracked the giant Siberian crater mystery — and the news isn’t good.”

Assuming the crater was indeed caused by the warming-related thawing of permafrost and the subsequent release of a large reservoir of methane, then this, folks, is what we call a “positive feedback loop.” And, no, “positive” doesn’t mean “good.” We might actually wish we could say that aliens had done it.
